Over time, emotional and physical stressors take their toll on our bodies and our brains. We go through life thinking that symptoms are “normal” because most everyone we know is experiencing some type of symptoms: pain, headache, indigestion, fatigue, PMS, brain fog, moodiness, anxiety, depression, and the list goes on and on. The problem is that because so many people experience these symptoms and we hear about them all the time, we begin to think it’s “normal’ to have symptoms and be on at least one medication.
The truth is: having symptoms is NOT NORMAL. They are just common. Symptoms are our body’s way of communicating that something is wrong. You can think of them as the warning lights on the dashboard of your car. Instead of “check engine” your body may be saying, “check hormones.” The sad thing is that by the time we have chronic symptoms, our bodies are functioning at about 40% of capacity. We tend to forget what feeling good feels like.
One of the quickest ways to help restore proper function in your body is with the correct application of acupuncture. When acupuncture is used as part of a complete system of medicine (and not merely to treat symptoms), it can help restore function back into our bodies and get blood, nutrients, and hormones to our cells efficiently, helping bring needed nutrients and oxygen to our cells, and help heal.
